I thought about how this was a time to get better both physically and especially mentally. Not being able to see friends and go to school took a blow on my mental health and left me with nothing to do. For many kids just like me, it probably did the same thing.
It all started in second grade. I was new to the school, Edgar Allan Poe Classical, in Pullman, on the south side of Chicago. They’d known each other since kindergarten. I felt so lost and shy, not knowing anyone. Tia approached me with a smile and said, “Hi!” I was caught off guard by her outgoingness, but I loved it.
I know it can be hard to speak up because you are afraid of what others might say or have a fear of rejection, but speaking out can have a huge impact on others. Whether it be educating the person you’re speaking out against or inspiring others to use their voice, it has significance.

Using these steps will not only make you more relaxed when you hit but these steps also will prepare you for when you go against actual pitchers and it will make your hitting experience much easier.
Be you. Stop comparing yourself to the standards of society. It’s never going to be worth the emotional pain you’re going to put yourself through. I wish you could glance into the future. Just for a second. To see how much the world has adjusted. Our generation has changed the world for the better.
